About Us
The DEEP Scholars Assn. Inc. (DEEPSAI) is a private non-stock, non-profit organization whose membership is made up of former scholars of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). As their gesture of “Paying Forward,” alumni of DBP’s scholarship program contribute funds to DEEPSAI, qualifying them as its members. While the DBP Endowment for Education Program (DEEP) had completed its program period of ten years, from 2008 to 2018, its goal and objectives continue to be pursued by DEEPSAI, as it was intended by the program to be its sustainability vehicle.
DEEPSAI was originally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 15, 2011 as DBP Endowment for Education Program (DEEP) Scholars Association Inc. Upon the prompting of the DBP Management, it amended its name to DEEP Scholars Assn. Inc. (DEEPSAI). DBP wanted DEEPSAI to be run as a full-fledged private social organization and shed its origins from its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
DEEP then became a stand-alone word, no longer the acronym of the DBP Endowment for Education Program. A year after DBP’s CSR program closed in 2018, DEEPSAI sought partnerships with educational and employment institutions. It offered funds for student loan programs of its partners, but always with assurance of employment of the beneficiaries upon completion so they can perpetuate the benefits from Paying it Forward.
